JURY SELECTION

Jury selection is said by some to be science, by others it is said to be art. It is both. But it is more art than science. Many great lawyers have an instinct about which jurors they want and don't want on a panel. Most of the time these gifted lawyers do a very good job weeding out the undesirables from a jury.

Jury consultants started cropping up in large numbers about 10 years ago. Some of us have been around for far longer. What is our role? I suppose that depends on what lawyer you ask and what jury consultant. The philosophy of this office is to supplant the lawyer's judgment with a second set of eyes and ears and to facilitate a broader view of the individual jurors for selection process from a psychological viewpoint. This is done through case specific jury voire dire questionnaires and working throughout the trial process. In no way do we attempt to replace or interfere in the independent judgment of the attorney but to add another dimension to the jury selection process.

We do not do mock trials or jury auditions, neither of which, in our opinion have proven to have demonstrated a value to attorney or client equal to their costs.
